I started with Trinity McQueen in September 2016 as a Graduate Trainee
What skills have been the most useful in helping you progress?
It’s important to be a confident communicator with clients and fellow team members. Being an independent worker as well as having the ability to work as part of a team has helped me. It’s important to be able to manage your work load and know when to delegate or ask for help. Finally, being curious; talk to people and ask questions.
Who have you turned to for support and advice when you’ve needed it?
My line manager and team leader are a great support. I also ask project leaders for feedback following big projects as feedback from different people is really important for gaining a different perspective.
What has been your biggest challenge in your career to date?
Managing my time efficiently and not over volunteering for every project. When I first started I was so eager and volunteered for more work than I had time for, so I didn’t have much time to work for my actual clients!
What wouldn’t you change about your career?
It’s early days so I’m not sure. I’m sure I will have an answer to this question soon!
What would you go back and tell your younger self?
Ask the question, even if you think it’s stupid.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to develop their career at Trinity McQueen?
Be curious and volunteer. Be proactive as it helps you to learn more. Network and seek feedback, even if it is after a small project. It all helps!
