MacMillan Coffee Morning 2018
On Friday 28th September, the Leeds office took part in the MacMillan coffee Morning. Taking inspiration from “The Bake Off” we all got together and started to think about all the lovely sweet treats we could bake to go with a nice cuppa on Friday Morning.
Teams were decided and one person from each team would be put forward with a “Showstopper” that would be judged by our very own Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
As I walked in on Friday morning, the balloons were up, the banners were out and the selection of baked goods laid out on the treat table was incredible! We had everything from cupcakes to brownies to Bakewell tarts and even a cake in the shape of a Jet 2 plane!
We broke off from our work mid-morning for a slice of cake (or two) and a brew. Everything looked and tasted amazing.
Four show stoppers were picked which included Danielle’s rainbow cupcakes, Rob’s ‘chocolaty heaven’ cake, Jake’s Jet2 plane cake and Steph’s vegetable patch carrot cake.
These were put forward to Matt and Grant (the bake off judges) to decide the winner. After a bit of deliberating and lots of umms and ahhhs they both agreed that the carrot cake was the winner and Steph was to be crowned “Star Baker”.
As a company we raised £255.50. I’m so proud of the team for all the effort that was put in, (not to mention really impressed with everyone’s baking skills!)
Well done everyone!
Look out for our next event where we will be raising money for our chosen charity MacMillan – and hopefully burning some of the calories from all the cakes and bakes we indulged in this time!
