Team Head / Research Director (Leeds)

Permanent role; based in Leeds; full or part time (4 days minimum) considered

Trinity McQueen is an award-winning insight consultancy. One of the fastest growing in the UK, we have a strong and growing reputation. Our insight is delivered using principles from behavioural science and using technology to help us get closer – it’s fascinating stuff!

Like our colleagues, our clients stay with us for the long term. Some have been with us for over 15 years. There’s lots of reasons why, but the fact is, we care about doing a good job and making sure every project meets their needs. And we get to do some fantastic, innovative projects.

If you look at our track record, our sweet-spot is creative and complex multi-method projects where we work closely with a client team to help them create change. This experience has led to us being finalists in the MRS awards for the past 10 years, most recently winning in the Applications of Research category in 2017. We were nominated for Best Agency in 2018.

One of our Directors is taking a career break, and we’d like to use this opportunity to bring someone new on board. We’re looking for someone who has the right combination of energy, enthusiasm and experience to lead a team of around 8-10 people here in Leeds. This comes from a set of ‘anchor’ clients which deliver a good proportion of sales and a ‘longer tail’ of smaller clients. Our relationships with these clients are the key to our success.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Risen through the ranks in an agency environment and have strong research skills

  • Have a great track record working on fast paced multi-method projects

  • Have a track record of leading a team

  • Have a good understanding of the principles of behavioural science and the enthusiasm to coach others

You will be responsible for:

  • Hitting a monthly / annual sales and gross margin target, including work from current clients and new business

  • Ensuring the work done in your team hits commercial KPIs e.g. recovery rates, margin GP

  • Ensuring the clients in your team are happy with the research and service they are receiving

  • Ensuring your team is happy, working on projects and clients that make the best use of their talents, and progressing their careers to fit their strengths

  • Leading a small number of anchor clients

  • Working with the other Team Heads in Leeds to deliver our Leeds targets, and more broadly with the wider Senior Management Team and Board of Directors to deliver the long term goals of the company

You will be:

  • Confident, enthusiastic and flexible with a “can do” attitude

  • A ‘growth mindset’ manager

  • On top of all the latest developments in market research and passionate about passing on your knowledge to juniors

  • Ideally a specialist in quantitative research techniques

  • Resilient, able to challenge your peers

  • Willing to try new things, innovate and be flexible for your clients

All applicants should have proof they are eligible to work in the UK (passport or visa). This is a permanent position but there may be flexibility for the right candidate.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, pension, PHI & annual bonus

  • 3% contributory company pension

  • 25 days holiday pro rata

  • Lieu time offered for qualitative out of hours work
